Both the Epi 335 and the Ibanez respond well through the Line 6 but in my experience, it really comes down to your amp setup for the sound you like most. The Line 6 comes with a slew of options for 12 different AMP models, and Smart controls for FX including Flange, phaser, delay, tremolo and echo controls. I can't say enough good things about this setup. I use a variety of Fender amps, a full valve Marshall DSL-40 for stage work and for home studio fun I run it through a Line 6 Spider Jam. When i pipe the ax through my amps I have near unlimited options for sound, volume and tone control. So for me, the volume, tone and sound are all about the guitar controls. But I can kick that up with the pickup selection and the tone control. My AS 73 came with flat wound strings that I love for the funky bassy sound and soft attack with short sustain.
I play blues, soft rock, pops and country. So for me, the Ibanez is the better value.
(Today guys are offering $800 and up to get them even though they are 30 years old). I have Fender Squires bought way back when they were $200 but made in Japan. I can say that while I like them both my fave is the Ibanez. Hi folks - I own both the Epi 335 and the Ibanez AS 73 along with a dozen other brands in my studio.
